In a cross-purchase agreement, each business owner buys a life insurance policy on each of the other owners and uses the proceeds to buy out the deceased owner’s share of the business. But if the company has an entity purchase or stock redemption plan, the business becomes both the owner and the beneficiary of the policy and can buy a deceased employee-owner’s share of the company with the proceeds from the death benefit.
